In 2017, the East Midlands region finished in 4th place at the National Championships, this was an amazingly improved performance. The contest was tight, with East Midlands narrowly missing out on higher positions. In 2018, we hope to better our position and bring home the Wilkinson Sword.
Fourteen different East Midland’s colleges took part in the regional tournaments and 11 different colleges qualified for the 40th National Championships.

Colleges representing the region in 2018: Bilborough Sixth Form College, Brooksby Melton College, Burton and South Derbyshire College, Derby College, Gateway College, Lincoln College, Loughborough College, Moulton College, New College Stamford, Nottingham College, and Wyggeston and Queen Elizabeth College.
Star team: The team to watch this year is Lincoln College’s LD football team, a well-structured team that put in an outstanding performance at the regional qualifiers.
One to watch: Loughborough College have had a huge contribution to the regional team this year, representing in the men’s and women’s volleyball, men’s tennis, women’s table tennis, women’s rugby, women’s hockey, men’s and women’s golf, women’s football and men’s basketball. Loughborough college are definitely one’s to watch at the National Championships.
National Championships veterans: Jessica Widdowson is returning for her second year at the National Championships, hoping to bring success to the East Midlands region in table tennis.
